Who We Are and What We Do

Our History

The Navy League of the United States, founded in 1902 with the support of President Theodore Roosevelt, is a nonprofit civilian, educational and advocacy organization that supports America’s sea services: the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and U.S.-flag Merchant Marine, their people, families, and Navy League-sponsored youth programs.    In 1957, a group of 20 World War II and Korean War veterans began laying the groundwork to establish the current Richmond Navy League Council. However, this was not the first Navy League organization in Richmond.
